Advent Reflection – 19

He comes, the broken heart to bind,
the bleeding soul to cure;
and with the treasures of his grace
to enrich the humble poor.

– Stanza 3 from Hark! the glad sound! the Savior comes by Philip Doddridge, 1735

To enrich something is to enhance the quality or value of something…or to add wealth to something. One of the best ways to enrich your life, and to enrich the lives of your loved ones, is by being present and in the moment. All too often, people think if they could only have more money, that they will also become happier. But the most enriched your life can be can never come from money. It comes from loved ones and friends, and from an appreciation for those sacred moments spent with each other. May the birth of Christ in your life and in our world enrich your life in numerous ways, this Advent season, and always.
